Located in Moshi, Maua Mazuri sells disease-free and high yielding seedlings which are produced in our state-of-the-art plant tissue culture laboratory. We are an international start-up company of highly talented scientists, agriculturalists and business professionals who are united by a goal of providing African farmers with the best seeds. Maua Mazuri is seeking a candidate as a sales agent position where candidate will work closely with our Chief Marketing Officer.

Position Job Brief:

Seeking an experienced sales officer to attract new tissue culture banana seedlings customers within Kilimanjaro and Arusha. Candidates will help potential customers by educating farmers and turning interested farmers into long-term customers. He/she will conduct site visits to potential and existing clients as needed and report regularly on the leads and realized sales result. He/she is our point of reference in the region, our local “eyes and ears”.

He/she will work in close cooperation with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) from the office. The Sales Officer reports to the CMO and will work on a daily basis in making field visits.

Key activities and Responsibilities:

  • Hit sales targets
  • Build relationships with existing customers
  • Cultivate new leads within the sales territory
  • Travel throughout the territory and visit customers on a recurring basis
  • Manage multiple accounts simultaneously
  • Maintain records of Kilimanjaro sales leads and customer’s accounts in the company’s CRM system
  • Represent the brand during all customer and prospect interactions
  • Educate customers on how tissue culture banana seedlings can benefit them financially
  • Monitor the company’s industry competitors, new products, and market conditions
  • Implement and execute the company’s sales strategy via related promotional campaigns
  • Update CMO weekly on the sales trends

Required qualifications & skills

The ideal candidate for the S.O position has:

  • A diploma or degree in sales or agribusiness economics
  • 1-2 years working experience in a marketing & sales position, preferably within agricultural business
  • A good understanding of market research and data analysis methods and approaches
  • Is eager to realize challenging targets and ambitious to exceed these
  • Has an open mind and is eager to continuously learn and improve his/her professional skills
  • Is able to work on “long distance” guidance
  • Is a good communicator and team player
  • Is accurate in follow up on leads and conclusion of contracts
  • Is good in time management
  • Has a basic knowledge of English and fluent in Swahili, in both written and in verbal, and has good communication skills
  •  Is good in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  •  Sharp and ready to work under pressure
